All Laced Up by Erin Fletcher

Image
I have been reading some good books this year, so I thought I would try to review a few here even if this blog is just for me. All Laced Up was one of the cutest books I have read this year. It was a cross between Ice Princess and A Cinderella Story. The book was about an ice skater and a hockey player slowly....well, I do not really want to give anything away. One of the reasons why I liked this book so much was because of the quotes. They were realistic for a young adult book and they actually related to life. "But the difference between everyone and the greats is that the greats know how to fight. Despite the circumstances, despite the pressure, despite whatever is going on, they fight. I think you have to fight for what you want." There were a few others that I liked, but again, I do not want to give the book away. I thought this book was good because a girl actually knew about hockey and she never backed down from what she thought about the popular guy protag...

Book Conclusions

Anybody that knows me knows that I love reading. I've always loved reading ever since I was little. I remember gathering all of my books that I had when I was about five and organizing them while trying to decide what to read next. That's probably why I love e-readers so much, because I love the idea of having all of my books with me in one place. Reading is also one of the only things I don't have much trouble understanding. Being hearing impaired means that I don't always understand what is being said. Books are the only thing in life that I fully understand 100%, and that's probably why I love them so much. So I'm going to try to make this be about books, and e-readers. If you're a reader like me, it's ok to love e-readers. The world will try to tell you that e-readers aren't real books, but you can read them the same way you can read an actual book; they are just on a device instead.

He Knows My Name

This blog post is going to be a little more personal than my other ones, but it's been one that I've wanted to write for awhile. One question I get asked about often is what it's like to be hearing impaired and how long I've had hearing aids.  I've had hearing aids since I was in fourth grade. I found out I was hearing impaired when I was in second grade. I wasn't born hearing impaired, I had several bad ear infections when I was little and that just made my hearing worse. When I was little I hated having hearing aids. That was just one more thing that set me apart from everybody else and I didn't like being different. When you're younger, being different might as well be the end of the world for you. I didn't get used to having hearing aids until I was much older. Being hearing impaired is sort of like being disconnected to those around you. You can hear what's going on, but you don't always know what's being said and...

Why is adult coloring so popular?

Image
Over the past year I've noticed that adult coloring books have become a popular trend. Some people are negative about it, saying that it's a worth of time because there's so many other things you could be doing. That's a little true, though coloring is a hobby. It's ok to have a hobby. Sometimes people just need to take a break from life and to just relax and unwind a little bit. Coloring is good for that. Coloring is a good stress reliever. It's something that adults like to do when they just need a break. It's not a complete escape from reality. It's just a time to relax. It's a time where simple decisions can be made, such as what page to color next, or what color to choose from. There are several types of coloring books to choose from. You can choose one based on your mood. If you're feeling stressed, there are coloring books for that. There are calming coloring books. There are some called Color Me Stress free, and Color Me Happy.
